Gospel of Luke Course

  • 720 Washington Avenue Southeast Minneapolis, MN, 55414 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

When: 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Where: Anselm House - Melrose Station - 720 Washington Ave SE Suite 50, Minneapolis, MN 55414
Instructor: Dr. Amy Anderson, Ph.D.

The author of the third Gospel was almost certainly a gentile who was a worshipper of God before recognizing Jesus as the Jewish messiah. Highly educated and intelligent, Luke was uniquely qualified to explain both how Jesus fulfilled the OT expectations and how the Holy Spirit’s involvement in the Incarnation provides the foundation for God’s inclusion of the gentiles in the people of God. We will begin with a brief introduction to the Synoptic Gospels in order to show how Luke used Mark and other sources to develop his Gospel.

This is a three-session course, running Mondays, March 23, April 6, and April 20. No outside reading will be required (though reading the Gospel of Luke before and/or during the course is highly recommended) but we do ask that participants commit to attending all three meetings. Course sessions will run from 6:30–8:30 p.m., with an optional dinner beforehand and a snack break in the middle. There is an optional dinner beforehand and a snack break in the middle. This course is being taught by Dr. Amy Anderson. CLICK HERE to RSVP.

Dr. Amy Anderson (Ph.D. New Testament, University of Birmingham) currently directs the Center for Ancient Texts and Languages and the Biblical Literacy Project. She taught New Testament for over 20 years at North Central University in Minneapolis, and has served in various capacities with Chi Alpha Campus Ministries.
